COVID-19

Pleasant Valley Hospital is closely monitoring and responding to the evolving COVID-19 situation to ensure the hospital is best positioned to meet head-on the very real impacts of this pandemic. Consistent with other leading healthcare organizations across the country and our region, Pleasant Valley Hospital has made policy changes to maximize the effort in mitigating the risks. Visitation Policy

As part of our commitment to the health care of our community, as well as the safety of our patients and employees, Pleasant Valley Hospital (PVH) will be updating its visitation policy, effective March 25, 2022.

  • Visitors shall comply with the WV State Health Code and wear proper attire while in the hospital (e.g. shoes, shirt) as well as requirements for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (e.g. masks) when deemed necessary.
  • All visitors should wash their hands with soap and water for 20 seconds or apply hand sanitizerupon entry and departure from the patient rooms and facility.
  • Visitors may be asked to leave the room or denied access: o During treatments, procedures, or examinations o If the visitor behavior becomes disruptive or violent o If the protected health information is to be discussed o If the care team deems it to be in the best interest of the patient o In the event of a public health event in accordance with state and federal requirements o At the request of the patient
  • isitors who are ill should not visit any patients in the hospital. If you are experiencing anysymptoms of infectious diseases, such as fever, cough, body aches, sore throat, ect. you should refrain from visiting.
  • Visitors should refrain from smoking in or on hospital property.
  • Children under 12 years old are not permitted to visit unless special circumstances exist, and an exception is granted. Visitors 12-17 years old must be always accompanied by an adult.
  • Visitors should refrain from bringing food or drink into patient care areas.
  • To access restrooms, visitors should use the public restrooms within the facility they are visiting.
  • Additional restrictions may apply in semi-private rooms for privacy or infection control purposes.
  • Sleeping is not permitted in our lobby or common areas.
  • Overnight visitors must be 18 years or older and should remain in the patient room during their visit and refrain from visiting other areas of the hospital. Overnight visitation is from 8 p.m.-8 a.m.; no swapping out of visitors is permitted during these times.
  • Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis for extenuating circumstances, such as end of life or other situations requiring compassionate accommodations.

Medical-Surgical, S1 S2

  • Medical-Surgical, Swing, and Rehab patients may have two visitors at a time between the hours of 8 a.m.-8 p.m. and one overnight visitor between the hours of 8 p.m.- 8 a.m.

Pediatric Patients

  • Pediatrics may have up to four designated visitors for the duration of their stay. Two of these four visitors may be at the bedside at a time.
  • Two parents/guardians may spend the night between the hours of 8 p.m. -8 a.m.

Intensive Care Unit

  • ICU patients may have two visitors at a time between the hours of 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. and one overnight visitor between the hours of 8 p.m.- 8 a.m.

Emergency Room

  • Adult patients may have one visitor accompany them during their ER visit.
  • Pediatric patients may have two visitors accompany them during their visit.

Surgical Service/Outpatient Procedures

  • All adult patients having an outpatient procedure or surgical procedure may have one person accompany them. They will wait in the designated areas.
  • Pediatric patients having an outpatient procedure or test may have two visitors accompany them to the lobby.
  • These visitors may be present during pre-op and post-operative discharge instructions and must be 18 years old.

Physician Offices and Clinics

  • One family member of adult patients will be able to accompany their loved ones into the office or exam room. • Pediatric patients will be allowed (2) parents/guardians to accompany the patient.

Clergy

  • Patients may have clergy visits between the hours of 8 a.m.- 8 p.m., unless end-of-life or religious requirements exist. Clergy do not count as a visitor, but all visits should be brief in nature and, when needed.
  • Clergy must obtain a clergy ID badge.

    Appointments will be given from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Appointments are required for testing.

    Please bring photo identification and insurance card to your appointment. Those without insurance will still be tested. Self-pay pricing for COVID-19 testing is $100. Please remain in your vehicle upon arrival. Someone will come to your window to test you.

If you are a current patient or new patient and would like to schedule a teleHealth telephone appointment, simply contact a PVH provider to schedule your visit date and time. A medical professional will contact you at your scheduled visit time, complete a phone evaluation, and provide medical advice and treatment. Appointments are available from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Temperature Check-In for Authorized Visitors

To reduce the spread of COVID-19, upon entering Pleasant Valley Hospital facilities you will be checked for fever, shortness of breath, cough, and sore throat.

Anyone who is experiencing symptoms of a respiratory virus including a new cough, fever, or shortness of breath is asked to stay home. If you have any questions, please call the COVID-19 Hotline at 304-674-2406.

Authorized visitors will be identified with a badge provided to them at the hospital’s main entrance and Wellness Center screening checkpoints. Additional visitors will not be permitted in the lobby areas.

Pleasant Valley Hospital is accepting donations of:

  • any new/unused masks
  • cleaning supplies, such as surface disinfectants
  • rubbing alcohol
  • bleach
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • exam gloves (nitro gloves)
  • head cover
  • shoe cover
  • disposable coveralls/bunny suites
