Welcome to Pleasant Valley Hospital Neurology, the Tri-County area’s only neurology team specializing in both adult and pediatric neurology. Alvaro Gutierrez, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained neurologist with decades of experience, including several years as a neurology professor at West Virginia University (WVU). At WVU, he was the director of epilepsy care and the EEG monitoring lab, as well as director of the neurophysiology lab. He also served as an examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Gutierrez and his team take a practical, problem-solving approach to neurology care. They see patients with an array of neurological conditions, including Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, dementia, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, trigeminal neuralgia, sleep disorders, carpal tunnel syndrome, migraines, dizziness, cluster headaches, neuropathy and numerous other disorders ranging from common to very rare. Services include EEGs for seizure monitoring, EMGs for muscle nerve testing, tilt-table testing for dizziness, trigger point injections for muscle pain, nerve blocks, nerve stimulation and BOTOX® injections for headaches and dystonia.

For patients suffering from complex diseases like Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis, PVH Neurology works closely with the other departments at Pleasant Valley Hospital to coordinate multispecialty care.
